From the Pastor's Desk

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ

This will be my last letter to you as your Pastor.  As of Friday, July 1st , I begin my new appointment as Vice-Rector of the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, and Assistant Chancellor for Worship and Special Events.

I wish to thank you for the way you welcomed me to your Parish.  The warmth I experienced here at St. George was a blessing, especially during such a cold winter.  Although I shared with you my own sense of “where am I?”, after all it was a bit of a shock to be in such a beautiful and peaceful setting, you went out of your way to make me feel at home.  Your cooperation and patience with the changes in Church and in the operation of the Parish was also very much appreciated.

I do leave St. George with mixed emotions.  I look forward to serving the Church in the Cathedral of the Diocese.  The Cathedral, as the Mother Church of the Diocese of Trenton, is to be a model in liturgical prayer.  I look forward to working with Msgr. Dermond, and the community of St. Mary’s in achieving this goal.  In my role as Assistant Chancellor for Worship and Special Events, I will be very involved in the observance of the 125th Anniversary of the Diocese, an ongoing liturgical renewal.  My sadness is in the opportunities I will miss in working with you in continuing the tradition of this great Parish, and sharing with you the mysteries of our faith.

Please know that I will always remember you in my prayers and in the celebration of the Mass.  As I leave St. George’s, I do feel blessed for my time here and for the chance of serving you.  I ask for your prayers and forgiveness if I have offended anyone during my term as Pastor.  Always remember that whatever we are, together we will labor in the vineyard of the Lord, and build up the Body of Christ, the Church.

            I remain,
                                               Sincerely yours in Christ,

                                               Father Sam
