Social Concerns Ministry
The mission of this ministry is to help parishioners to get each other on a social level and to reach out as a group to help those in and outside our Parish community. The Parish will continue to grow and flourish when the relationships within the Parish are developed. Committees are designed to facilitate the building of relationships and to foster Parish and community development.
Bereavement
The goal of this team is to provide education and support for members of the Parish who are preparing for or experiencing a loss through the death of family or friends. Members of the group serve as visitors to parishioners and their families upon referral of the Pastor.
Programs providing information about living wills, legal wills, hospice, death and dying, grief and loss will be organized and co-sponsored with the Educational Concerns Ministry. Resources such as local support groups and reading materials are available through this committee.
Hospitality
The goal of this team is to welcome new parishioners to our community. Periodic events are hosted by members of this committee to help foster new relationships between old and new parishioners.
Medical/Psychological
The goal of this team is to provide valuable medical and/or psychological information and guidance for our Parish community. Through various professional guest speakers and presentations, parishioners will be appraised of current medical issues, medications, health concerns, and emotional challenges. The Church family will also have the opportunity to receive disease specific direction for physicians and/or medical facilities.
Outreach
The goal of this committee is to marshal the resources of St. George's Parish in order to provide monetary contributions, physical goods and works of charity to worthwhile causes both locally and in different parts of the world.
Parents Group
The goal of this group is to plan social and educational events for families with infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
Senior Citizens - The Settlers
The goal of this committee is to bring parishioners together for fun activities such as dances, parties, flea/craft sales, and picnics. Family and social events are planned during the year by the members of this committee. The name of the group is the Settlers. They meet on the fourth Tuesday of every month in the basement of the John Prince Parish Center. Members bring a "brown bag" lunch, with dessert and coffee provided. In addition to regular Settler Club business, a guest speaker may be scheduled.
